Precious
Jesus, thank You for friendships. Thank you for those certain people in
our lives who love us at all times (Proverbs 17:17). Thank You for my husband and the friendship we have with each other. I pray that I will be his best friend and he will be mine. Please bless my husband with a great support system of God-fearing, male,
friends. Please help my husband desire deep fellowship with other Bible
believers... friends who will keep him accountable and help him grow
deeper in his faith (Proverbs 27:17). Help my husband be intentional
about walking with those who are wise in spiritual matters (Proverbs
13:20). While I do pray that my husband will be a witness to his
unsaved friends; may he never desire the company of wicked men
(Proverbs 24:1) or surround himself with only those people who turn
away from You, the living God (Hebrews 3:12). Help my husband have the proper boundaries to never have a close friendship with any other female. Please give my husband the courage to be a Godly friend to those around him.
Grant my husband at least one faithful friend whose friendship will be
similar to the friendship of David and Jonathan (1 Samuel 20:17).
Lastly, I pray, that my husband would know You are the one and only
friend who will stick closer than a brother (Proverbs 18:24) and that he would love You and have faith in You so to be called a friend of
God (James 2:23). Amen.
(The prayer above was taken from For the Love of Our Children and adapted to be made applicable for our husbands).
This is such a hard thing to remember to do- to actively seek what someone else likes when are initial reaction is so much more "self" then we ever imagined it would be- even when we try so hard to put our selfishness away!
ReplyDeleteSo true! That pesky "flesh" we all have to deal with - ha.
