Okay prayer warriors, my husband was summoned for jury duty! Now, I know I just wrote a blog post on being a very political person, but I'm praying that my husband won't actually have to serve. Here is why:
In his job, he can't take personal/sick days... so, if he is supposed to work and can't then it is his responsibility to find someone to take his shift. If he does that, then he will owe that person a shift. He is scheduled to work on the days he has been summoned. He tried to get excused from it, even having the president of his company send a fax explaining the situation, but they said that if he doesn't show up on Monday then he will be held in contempt of court. However, there is a small chance he won't be needed - and if that is the case - they will let him know by phone tomorrow. Would you please join me in praying that he is excused altogether so that he won't have to take days out of his paternity leave to pay back the people taking his shifts? I know that is a little selfish, but his paternity leave is already so short (about a week) and I would love to have him home during the entire time as we adjust to having four children rather than having him have to go back to work early in order to pay back people for taking his jury duty shifts. Would you also pray for me, that if he is summoned, I won't be upset or selfish, but rather, I would be supportive and encouraging knowing that he can't control this situation? Thank You!
Praying! I feel your pain. Literally. I got summoned for jury duty for November. I am trying to get out of it. I also have no time off work as the mother just took 12 weeks off for maternity leave and goes back to work 2 weeks before my jury duty. No one at all to watch my kids. Andrew is out of state for work the exact same time. My sister is working. My best friend just had a baby (#5) and can't take my extra 2 for a week.
ReplyDeleteI did a deferral....saying I would serve another time in the next 12 months. Not exactly my first choice, but the timing of this summons absolutely will not work.
Praying Jason gets excused!
Thank you, Jason's case never made it to trial, but they said they would call him again to appear sometime between now and January. Praying that doesn't happen or if it does, that it takes place on a day he is already off from work so that he won't have to trade shifts with anyone. Thanks for your prayers!
