Valentine's Day Thoughts and Prayers!

I don't often view myself as whimsical or romantic, but there is something about Valentine's Day that gets me excited. Perhaps it goes back to middle school when I would dreamily sing along with Martina McBride to the song "Valentine" or perhaps I'm just a sucker for Hallmark cards and candy! Whatever it is, I'm a big fan of Valentine's Day! Are you?

I have so many friends who don't seem to care about February 14th. One of my friends said that her husband is so romantic it is as if every day is Valentine's Day. What a wonderful outlook. Then I have another friend who celebrates it on the 15th so that flowers, cards, and candy are cheaper. Are you and your husband doing anything special to celebrate? I love to hear about other people's traditions and celebrations!

Let's be sure to love on our husbands through prayer today!  Here are some Scriptures to pray specifically for our husbands and ourselves:
  • I pray that my husband would love me as Jacob loved Rachel (Genesis 29:20).
  • I pray that my husband would place me like a seal over his heart (Song of Solomon 8:6).
  • I pray that my husband would love me as he loves himself and that I will respect him (Ephesians 5:33).
  • I pray that the Lord would bind my husband and I in perfect unity through love (Colossians 3:14).
  • I pray that my husband and I will be patient and kind. That we will not be envious, boastful, proud, rude, or self-seeking. Help us not to be easily angered or keep any record of wrongs. May we not delight in evil, but rejoice with the truth. May we always protect, always trust, always hope, and always persevere (1 Corinthians 13:4-7).

Today, as we reflect on our love for our family, let us not forget those around us who need to know that they are loved passionately by Jesus Christ. The most loving thing we can do for anyone is to pray for them to have a love relationship with Jesus Christ. Praying that they will know that they are cared for, cherished, adored, and pursued by the Creator of the universe. To know there is Someone who will meet all their needs, never break their hearts, or let them down. Does your spouse know Jesus in that way? Your children? Your in laws? Your neighbors? Who can you be the hands and feet of Christ to today?

Here are some great Scriptures to pray for those who need to know His love:
  • John 3:16
  • Deuteronomy 10:15
  • Psalm 136:1
  • John 15:9
  • 1 John 4:7-21
  • Matthew 22:37-39
  • 1 Peter 4:8

Happy Valentine's Day!!
